Helpful Hints

Aluminum Railing

  1. Post spacing on 36” railing should be 5 feet on center with a maximum spacing of 6 feet.
  2. When railing is sleeved between existing wood posts or columns, a rail support is recommended for spans between 6 feet and 8 feet.  A saddle post should be used for anything over 8 feet.
  3. On 36” glass rail - length should not exceed 60".
  4. End posts can be used in lieu of being sleeved to a house. (example – vinyl siding-use end posts).
  5. A corner picket should be used instead of a corner post when the rail length is 8 inches or less.
  6. Stair railing supports should be used on spans between 6 feet and 10 feet.  A swivel stair post will be used on all stair lengths 8 feet or longer.  If spanning 18 feet to 20 feet two swivel posts should be used.
  7. Stair railing racks 30-38 °

Cleaning

To clean vinyl, mix the following solution:  1 cup ordinary liquid laundry detergent, 2 cups household cleaner, 1 gallon of water.  Apply generously as you would clean any other product exposed to the outdoor elements.

To clean dirt from scratches, you may use a damp sponge with a dab of soft scrub (or equivalent commercial product).  Gently rub in the direction of the scratch, being careful not to rub too hard.  Rubbing too hard could harm the finish of the product.
